28th June -

Dear Mr Whistler,

I am delighted to hear that you think of sending your mother's portrait[3] to the Municipal Exhibition at Amsterdam. The last receiving day is the 10th August. I have no circular but if you will forward the picture to me in due time, I shall see to its being delivered in due time also. I certainly think it is worth while and I know [p. 2] beforehand that it will be well spoken of by some of our art-critics and highly thought of by our best artists[.] Speaking for myself, I think it might help me also to dispose of "the Fur Jacket[4]"

I am leaving for Paris tonight to attend the sale of the [Secrétan?] collection, on my return I shall give your message to Mr Zilcken[5].

Hoping that this will find you well, I remain, with kind regards to Mrs Whistler[6] [p. 3] and yourself.
Yours sincerely

E. J. van Wisselingh
