Ma In answer to your kind and courteous letter I beg that you will present my most distinguished compliments to his Excellency the Syndico of Venice^[3] and say that long absence from Paris, and much traveling, have prevented my writing in acknowledgement of the honour conferred upon me at the Exhibition^[4] -
