Chapman had agreed to lend Nocturne: Blue and Silver - Bognor (YMSM 100) to the Exposition, Galerie Durand-Ruel, Paris, 1888. However, there seems to have been some difficulty arranging insurance cover whilst this painting and another work - Nocturne: Grey and Gold - Chelsea Snow (YMSM 174), bound for Munich - were in transit. The picture was eventually sent via JW's dealers Dowdeswell & Dowdeswell and insured with Lloyd's for £350. See A. Chapman to JW, #00578, #00579, #00581 and letter draft, JW to A. Chapman, #02229, A. Chapman to Dowdeswells,' #00582.
