Dear Whistler

Pray let my father's 'Balcony'[2] picture be exhibited at the Paris International Exposition[3], since you wish it - But he feels, as we all do, that it is a little trying to be without the picture for so long - I am sure that you will return it to us as early as possible after closure of the Exposition - With every hope [p. 2] that the engraving[4] & exhibition of the picture may be advantageous to yourself

Believe me
Sincerely yours

John Cavafy -
