March 20 1888.
Dear Mr Maus -
The only news I have at all had of my exhibition with you gentlemen in Brussels, is first in the form of the bill which I enclose - that, in case you have paid it, I may protest, - and again the notice from my agent of the smashing of the frame of the large full length - because of bad packing or neglect -
Beyond this, my dear Mr Maus, not a word - [p. 2] Neither extracts from the papers, nor even the Catalogue - though I understood you to say that it was coming -
Believe me meanwhile with many thanks, very faithfully
J. McNeill. Whistler
Octave Maus Esq.
