A Lion for the SBA (M.1121). The design of a lion in a rectangular cartouche as printed here on the right (in red ink), was first used on the catalogue for 63rd Annual Exhibition, Society of British Artists, London, 1886, and then for the card for the Smoking Conversazione on 11 December 1886. A more formal version of the design was developed for the RBA, soon after it was given Royal Status.
