10th April 1893.

Dear Mr Whistler

I see from the papers here that the Corporation[2] are after all going to let you have the Carlyle for Chicago.

I am glad to hear it[.] What I write about spe[c]ially is to see if you can let me know the exact date of the opening of the "Champ de Mars[3]" - The private view day, also if one could have tickets. They are for two young ladies whose portraits (by Guthrie[4]) are to be there

By kindly letting me have this information by return & regretting having to trouble you

Yours faithfully

Alex Reid (père)
