Dear Sir Dighton -

Do pray convey my sincere thanks to His Royal Hig[h]ness the Prince[4] - and say for me how sensible I am of his great kindness in so graciously granting my request, and finding time to visit the Exhibition at a moment like this when his many occupations so press upon him.

I can only hope that Her Royal Hig[h]ness [p. 2] the Princess of Wales[5] may be enabled to accompany him, but in any case the Society will feel deeply honoured at the flattering interest expressed in her willingness to be present if her engagements permitted.

All will be in readiness at the Galleries on Monday the 4th at the appointed hour - 11.30 - and I shall be in waiting to receive their Royal Highnesses -

With many thanks
Very faithfully Yours

J McNeill Whistler.
