Dear Mr Poole -

You know of this most important great Exhibition at Münich^[3], where I am meaning to be well represented, having been specially invited -

Of course, on this occasion, you must not be omitted, as the charming owner of some of my most prized works^[4]! -

However you were so good last year, and there are now others to cooperate by their loans, that I will only ask for two - [p. 2] the water colours, "Harmony in Violet & Yellow" (girl seated in yellow room) and the little "Arrangement in Black" - (girl seated against black background with hat & feather on her knee)

Do, if you can, let Mr Hanson^[5] bring these back with him - as time presses and the people are waiting -

Put your own value upon them and they will be insured -

I should be delighted if you would come down tomorrow afternoon morning at about half past ten or eleven - to my new studio,

3rd Internationale Kunst-Austellung, Munich, 1888. JW sent a large group of works - thirteen oils, twenty watercolours, seven pastels and thirty etchings. Amongst the oils were Arrangement in Black: La Dame au brodequin jaune - Portrait of Lady Archibald Campbell (YMSM 242) and Harmony in Grey and Green: Miss Cicely Alexander (YMSM 129).

Watercolours dating from the early 1880s: "Harmony in Violet & Yellow" may have been Harmony in violet and amber (M.906) and "Arrangement in Black" was probably Black and red (M.936).
