Sunday 3rd April
Dear Mr Howard
I have just seen Onslow Ford, and he wants to send something to the show, and seems upset because he wasnt invited, was not his name proposed?
I have also recd a long letter from Mr [p. 2] Whistler in which he says and asks me to repeat it to you.
"Tell him and Lavery this influenza, from which I am only slowly recovering has, this time wiped me out, and that for the Conduct of the Society, and for all that concerns the Exhibition they must quite do without me.
However that happily (if they have faith in my news) all plans had been fully made out, for them (p. 3) before I really was down on my back, so the sailing orders are clear, and the vice chairman has if he thinks fit only to stick to them.
I may and I trust will get stronger as the weeks go
by on - and Howard should let me know everything, Perhaps I might be able to suggest still if no more.["] I dont think this is half so serious as it sounds, and (p. 4) as he showed no sign of backing out every thing will be well, Ludovici I suppose went to Paris.
