Dear Mr Whistler.
I have your favor of 6th instant and note it is time now to have the 'Princess[2]' sent off to Venice. Will you kindly wire or write me on receipt the name and address of the Secretary of the Venice Exhibition[3] so that [p. 2] I may communicate with him regarding the packing and Insurance of the picture. When that is in order the picture can be despatched at once. I have written to Miss Birnie-Phillip[4] regarding the little water colour[5] in the Glasgow E Institute.
Regarding the portrait I understand that the Lord Provost[6] & some of his Committee have been laid up with Influenza [p. 3] but are to meet in a few days now. I shall let you know whenever I hear from them.
