Dear Sir,
The Fine Art Committee of the Royal Commission desiring that you should be represented in the British Fine Art Section at Paris, have requested me to ask you to be good enough to specify, (in order of preference) on the enclosed form, two or three Works from which the Committee propose to select one.
Will you please specify also, any suitable example of your Work that you may have in your own possession, as this would assist the Committee in the event of Owners being found unwilling to lend.
I am requested to state that the Space at the disposal of the Section is so extremely limited that pictures of moderate size are greatly to be preferred.
Works must have been executed subsequent to 1st of May, 1889, and will be required early in February next. Works forming part of the Chantrey Collection are not available.
The Exhibition will open on the 15th of April, and close on the 5th November, 1900.
Awaiting the favour of an early reply.
I am, Dear Sir,
Yours faithfully,
I. Spielmann[4]
Secretary, Fine Art Committee.
J. McNeill Whistler[5]
