BEEFSTEAK CLUB,
KING WILLIAM STREET,
STRAND, W. C.

Flossie! Where are you? -

Why were you not all of you at my Private View[4] the other day?

What have I done? -

Have you seen my correspondence with the Times in last Saturdays Pall Mall?[5]

Make George[6] get you the Pall Mall Budget [p. 2] which comes out I believe on thursday, and read 'Mr. Whistler & the Times', where you will find an account of my raid upon Printing House Square[7]! - my sacking the place and carrying off for execution Mr. Buckle and his man Humphrey Ward[8]!! -

Since the days of Stonewall Jackson[9] there is nothing so brilliant - and you are to have no undue tender sympathies with the 'plain person' Hump'h'rey! -

Always devotedly
with love to all
