Here is what I promised -

and in turn write me a line to say that you have absolutely [done] as I wished, and managed the matter in the north^[4] in your very best manner -

Written at top left in another hand. The colour chart is Colour scheme for a lavatory (M.1104).

4.  the matter in the north
Both the date of the letter and the 'matter' are unclear, but the reference could possibly be to Royal Jubilee Exhibition, Manchester, 1887. If that is not far enough north, it might concern sales of prints to Craibe Angus and Son in Glasgow. A similar reference appears in another letter to E. G. Brown, #03636.

6.  Distemper
'Distemper', 'oil' and 'light' in this section are all double underlined.
