Westminster
Notes:
1. [May/June 1886?]
Dated from probable reference to portrait (see below).
2. Gertrude Elizabeth Campbell
Gertrude Elizabeth Campbell (1857-1911), née Blood, Lady Colin Campbell, writer, art critic and amateur artist [more]. JW's 'plan' may have been a proposal to paint her portrait as she posed for him during the summer and autumn of 1886. The completed work, Harmony in White and Ivory: Portrait of Lady Colin Campbell (YMSM 354), was exhibited at the Winter Exhibition, Society of British Artists, London, 1886-1887, (cat. no. 259).
3. MsLc
This copy is in the hand of Rosalind Birnie Philip (1873-1958), JW's sister-in-law [more]; the envelope was apparently sent by hand.
