Dear Mr Reid -

Many thanks for your note[4] - I am so glad to know that the "Furred Jacket[5]" has at last turned up all right - and I am of course greatly relieved to know that it is all right about Chicago[6] - You will send the three pictures in plenty of time for Bourlet[7] so that I shall be without further anxiety - [p. 2] I have seen Jacomb Hood[8] - & I think he will lend you the Leyland[9] willingly if you write at once & ask him -

About Your proposal to buy the Furred Jacket outright, my idea is that you will have no difficulty in selling this picture, which you know has its reputation! - (I have just received the 1st Gold Medal for it from Munich[10]) - for something more like 2000 gs. than your earlier and sadder view of its value - and really I prefer being in this sort of good thing with you -

[p. 3] Do you know that the Little Nocturne "Falling Rocket[11]" I sold the other day for 800gs! - and the little "Balcony[12]" for 1000? -

The Whistlers are not going down? -

Write to Paris - 110 Rue du Bac -

With best wishes
Always sincerely

J McN. Whistler
