Dear Mr Reid -
Many thanks for your note - I am so glad to know that the "Furred Jacket" has at last turned up all right - and I am of course greatly relieved to know that it is all right about Chicago - You will send the three pictures in plenty of time for Bourlet so that I shall be without further anxiety - [p. 2] I have seen Jacomb Hood - & I think he will lend you the Leyland willingly if you write at once & ask him -
About Your proposal to buy the Furred Jacket outright, my idea is that you will have no difficulty in selling this picture, which you know has its reputation! - (I have just received the 1st Gold Medal for it from Munich) - for something more like 2000 gs. than your earlier and sadder view of its value - and really I prefer being in this sort of good thing with you -
The Whistlers are not going down? -
Write to Paris - 110 Rue du Bac -
With best wishes
J McN. Whistler
