My dear Freer -
I am looking forward with such pleasure to seeing you! -
And there are endless things to impart, - And letters are so impossible - excepting always that I was delighted to get your own -
I felt though that you were again slipping through my [p. 2] fingers - and escaping to America without the two or three weeks' quiet in which to go together over what I fancy interesting in both studios since last we met - Besides I have my plan! and hurry is an abomination - -
Now you who are making for yourself beautiful places and filling them with things rare and chosen, must know this better than the racing ones of Chicago! of whose mad existence I have been [p. 3] reading - and you will put off your return - changing from one steamer to another at your own pleasant will - until we two shall have talked together at our ease, &, to our exceeding satisfaction, as becomes those of our distinction, for whom breathless words of greeting & parting should scarcely be mingled over the same shaking of hands! - -
The little Lady Sophie[4] is holding her Court in all honour in Munich for the moment - and the pastels and proofs[5] are all safe with me - waiting for the exhibition [p. 4] Brown Shipley[6] have not as yet had your address or I would have wired before now -
They tell me though that they expect you here any day - Excellent!
Let me hear from you directly you get this -
Always sincerely
