My dear Mr. Studd
Jimmie has been going to write to you but has been so frightfully busy that he has not had a moment.
Now, I am writing for him, to ask [p. 2] you if you think you could possibly lend to an exhibition in Hambourg[5] - "The Little White Girl", Professor Heilbut[6] has come to Jimmie from the authorities there to borrow something[,] but all his pictures are lent in America - The exhibition will only be open for six or eight weeks, and it opens on the 18th of March. so you see they would be back very soon - Of course, they will pack and insure them -
Its too bad, we know - to ask you this, so soon, but you see, all the other people are so very disagreable and wont lend! The professor is going to write to you, he is at this moment sitting on the other side of the table, glaring, while I write this, which will account for it being such a dreadful scrawl however, I hope you will understand it.
We hope you are coming back soon, for we have missed you very much - besides - the time is coming round and I want your help with the seeds.
If you see Mrs. Sickert[7] give her my love - With kindest regards from us all.
