Dear Huish
I have come accidentally upon the enclosed which I thought you had received long ago -
I do wish you could send it with a line to say that it had been forgotten; for it would be well that the Manchester People[3] should know what I mean -

Notes:
1. [1/18 April 1887?]
Dated from reference to exhibition (see note below).
2. Marcus Bourne Huish
Marcus Bourne Huish (1843 - d.1921), barrister, writer and art dealer, Director of the Fine Art Society [more].
3. Manchester People
Probably a reference to Royal Jubilee Exhibition, Manchester, 1887. The enclosure (not located) that JW sent presumably related to his decision to withdraw his works from the exhibition. He had sent Arrangement in Grey and Black, No. 2: Portrait of Thomas Carlyle (YMSM 137) and Nocturne in Black and Gold: The Falling Rocket (YMSM 170) and a number of etchings but disapproved of the hanging arrangements. See JW to M. B. Huish, #02979, and W. Agnew to JW, #03984.
