Dated by reference to the portrait of Gilchrist, first exhibited in May 1879 at 3rd Summer Exhibition, Grosvenor Gallery, London, 1879 (see below).
2. Charles Augustus Howell
This note was written by Charles Augustus ('Owl') Howell (1840? - d.1890), entrepreneur [more], below an affixed receipt in the first of two albums of documents kept by him (see #02788). The receipt was later removed from the album, possibly by JW, and has not been located (see Sketch of 'Harmony in Yellow and Gold: The Gold Girl - Connie Gilchrist' (M.711)).
3. Connie Gilchrist
Constance MacDonald Gilchrist (1865-1946), dancer and actress, later Countess of Orkney [more]. She posed for Harmony in Yellow and Gold: The Gold Girl - Connie Gilchrist (YMSM 190) (see #02794).
