I read to my great satisfaction, in the paper of this morning, the according to me so [well?] deserved distinction dedicated to you by the Amsterdam[5] jury: accept my well intended congratulations.

I followed of course with great interest all the so many and so different critics of your art.

Some weeks ago I sent you up the photographie [sic] of Effie Deans[6], did you recieve [sic] it?
