The Whistler etching reserved for Mrs. Pym[3]. will has been sent to the Butterfly Company[4], No. 2 Hinde Street Manchester Square. the agents for all Mr. Whistlers Etchings. We were unable to find the correct price in time so sent it with others to them.

JW formed the Company of the Butterfly in April 1897 in order to sell his works direct to the public. He acquired the lease of a shop at No. 2 Hinde Street, Manchester Square, as premises and employed Mrs Christine Anderson as manager. However, it was not a success and ran only from 1898 to 1901.
