LE Sept. 10 / 90
Your works for the Salon have landed safely here. Of course, they have all been received with open arms. The Hanging Committee is hard at work and, according to what is due to you and the promises made to me, you will not have to complain of want of taste on their part.
When are you and Madame Whistler going to gratify us with your visit? Mrs. Harry and myself are expecting you. Don't disappoint us, cher butterfly. Our friend Heinemann will have shown you the Independance (Salon) and you will have received the Independance (Whistler-Moore). A propos, how fares Augustus?
Kindest regards and remembrances to Madame Whistler and for you, cher maitre, the expression of very sincere dévouement
