Mrs Maxse, a Chelsea acquaintance of JW.
Three pen drawings of women, showing details of puffed sleeves, appear on two small scraps of squared paper enclosed with this letter (MS Whistler 520, 520/1, 520/2). The artist is unknown and they may date from later; they appear to be unrelated to the letter.
