1. [6 December 1877/November 1878?]
This document is similar to notes on another document that bears the date 7 December 1877 (#12063), but probably dates from somewhat later. They were made in preparation for the case of Whistler v. Ruskin at the Queen's Bench of the High Court on 25-26 November 1878.
4. Fors clavigera
Ruskin, John, 'Letter the Seventy-ninth' Fors Clavigera, 2 July 1877, pp. 181-213.
Acton Smee Ayrton (1816-1886), solicitor, radical Liberal MP and Chief Commissioner of Works and Public Buildings [more]. Counsel's advice was that Ruskin's attacks on other people, including Ayrton, were not of any help to JW's case (see #12076).
Probably 9th Winter Exhibition of Cabinet Pictures in Oil, Dudley Gallery, London, 1875.
1st Summer Exhibition, Grosvenor Gallery, London, 1877.
The Academy, 21 July 1877, was among journals that referred to Ruskin's attack on JW (see above).
