Notes:

1.  [November 1887?]
At the top of the typescript copy is the date '1887'. The letter is also dated by reference to the RBA. During her Jubilee Year, JW sent a Memorial to Victoria (1819-1901), Queen of Great Britain [more], requesting that the Society of British Artists be called Royal. The SBA subsequently received a Royal Charter, thus becoming the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) (see G. Lushington to JW, 9 August 1887, #13418). This invitation may relate to the private view of Winter Exhibition, Royal Society of British Artists, London, 1887-1888. The original letter has not been located.
