Dear Mrs Reid -

I have been ill since we received your husbands letter announcing the great event, or I should have written before this to tell you how much we congratulate [p. 2] you - and the young McNeill[4] - on his appearance into this world -

Be sure when his name is registered it is spelt with two ll's - and not with one - !!

We hope by this time you are well again -

Will you tell your husband[5] Mr Whistler [p. 3] will do his best to get him the tickets for the Salon[6] - Where are they to be sent - or shall we send them to him -

With kindest regards regards [sic] from us both and our love to the McNeill -

Very sincerely Yours

Beatrix Whistler.
