It appears the distempering[3] was all done yesterday! - and I got a note last night asking when we can go down about the oil painting[4] -
Will you make an appointment with Mr Estcourt[5] for tomorrow morning? as early as before - then we could both go down and see the effect -

5. Mr Estcourt
Estcourt, a tradesman. Since interior decoration is the context, the reference may be to the firm of Estcourt and Williams, wholesale table manufacturers, at West End Steam Cabinet Works, Blechynden Mews, Notting Hill. Estcourt is mentioned in another letter to Menpes, written on the notepaper of Messrs Dowdeswell (#10029).
