Abbott Handerson Thayer was an American painter and naturalist.

Life:

Abbott Handerson Thayer was a student of Jean-Leon Gerome and Henri Lehmann. Thayer studied at the Brooklyn Art School and National Academy of Design before he settled in Paris in 1875.

He is mentioned in JW's correspondence during 1892 concerning the sixth Intenational Kunst-Austellung Exhibition held at the Gallery Koniglichen Glaspalast in Munich.

Charles Lang Freer was a partron of both JW and Thayer. Freer exhibited the work he had by Thayer at the aforementioned exhition, JW also exhibited.
