Identity:

Ellen Terry was an actress. She was briefly married to G. F. Watts, and lived with E. W. Godwin for some years. She had two children, Edie and Edward Gordon Craig.

Life:

Ellen Terry was particularly associated with the Bancrofts and Henry Irving, and famous especially for her Shakespearean roles.

She may have met JW through Godwin, and JW hoped to paint her portrait, but never did so.
