Identity:

Prince Francis Paul Charles Louis Alexander, created Duke of Teck in 1871, was a soldier, who served in the Austrian Imperial Gendarmerie and later in Egypt under General Wolseley. He married Princess Mary Adelaide in 1866.

Life:

He may have known JW in the mid-seventies, when his name appears in an address book (#12714).
