Robert Spence was a painter and etcher.
He studied at the Newcastle School of Art, the Slade School and in Paris. He exhibited from 1896 at the Royal Academy and the Royal Society of Painter Etchers amongst others. In 1898, he was invited to exhibit with the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers during JW's presidency. He was elected R.E. of the Painter Etchers Society in 1902.
