Charles Sims was a portrait, landscape and decorative painter. He was also an illustrator.
Sims studied at the government schools at South Kensington, the Académie Julian in Paris (1891) and the Royal Academy schools (1893). He exhibited at the Royal Academy, the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolour and the Leicester Galleries amongst many others. He was elected a Royal Academician in 1915 and was later Keeper of the RA but resigned in 1926 when he became mentally ill. He committed suicide in 1928.
