Mario Proth was a radical journalist and writer.
Proth was the librarian of the Ministry of the Interior from 1870 to 1872. He was co-founder of the radical journal La Revue internationale cosmoplite, published in Geneva and Paris. From 1875 to 1879 he wrote annual publications on the Salon under the title Voyage au Pays des Peintres.
