Life:

Sir George Pirie was a painter of figures, animals and farmyard scenes. He studied in Glasgow and later exhibited at the Royal Scottish Academy, the Glasgow Institute of Fine Arts, the Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool and elsewhere. He was President of the RSA from 1933-44.
