Identity:
James W. Paton was the Curator of the Glasgow Industrial Museum in 1891.
Life:
Paton was one of the recipients of an artists' petition for the Glasgow Coporation to purchase JW's Arrangement in Grey and Black, No. 2: Portrait of Thomas Carlyle (YMSM 137) (#12326). He also negotiated with JW over the purchase in March and April 1891.
