Edward Baldwin Malet was a diplomat.

Life:

Malet was British Ambassador to Germany from 1884 to 1895; as such he would have been involved when JW exhibited his work in Germany and was awarded prizes and honours. Malet wrote a book of memoirs, Shifting scenes or memories of many men in many lands, London, 1902.
