Arthur Lemon was a genre painter.

Life:

Lemon lived a well-travelled life, spending his early life in Rome and ten years of his adulthood as a cowboy in California where he made studies of Indians. After study with Carolus Duran in Paris, Lemon lived between England and Italy. He was a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy, Grosvenor Gallery and the New Gallery beween about 1878 and 1902. He seems to have particularly favoured Italian rural subjects.

He was invited to exhibit with the International Society of Sculptors, Painters and Gravers when JW was President in 1898.
