Gustav Kobbé was a writer on music and art.
Best known for writing on opera (Kobbé's Opera Book; Wagner's life and works, 1890), Kobbé was also a writer of theatrical farce ('Two belles to a beau; or, The leap-year proposal. A society of burlesque, in one act,' 1892; 'Wanted--a nurse, a farce in one act,' 1892), theatre and travel books and poetry (My rosary and other poems, 1896). He was also a contributor to the American Century magazine, 1889-1899. He wrote an account of 'Whistler at West Point and in the U. S. Coast Survey' (#02437)
