Identity:

Horatio Herbert Kitchener, 1st Earl Kitchener, field marshal and imperial administrator was the Chief of Staff in South Africa (1900-02), Commander in Chief in India (1902-9) and later Secretary for War in 1914.

Life:

Kitchener also served in the Middle East, especially in Egypt where he was Adjutant-General of the Egyptian Army from 1888-92.
