Charles Edward Wynne Jerningham was a philanthropist, soldier, collector, author and composer.

Life:

'C. Jerningham' was invited to the Private View of the Royal Society of British Artists when JW was President in 1887. This may have been Charles Edward Wynne Jerningham, whose published works include The Art and Curio Collector's Guide: Being a guide to the dealers in art, old furniture, curios, old plate, prints, rare books, etc (1899). Under the name 'Marmaduke' he wrote 'shrewd and pithy' weekly letters of social comment amd artistic and literary crticism in the newspaper Truth.
