Mrs Louis Jay was a social acquaintance of JW.
Jay was possibly a patron of JW in the 1890s. In 1895 she bought two lithographs by JW from the Fine Art Society. At that time her address was recorded as 32 Nidda Strasse, Frankfurt on the Main, Germany, a/c to Mrs O. Sitwell, 10 Oxford and Cambridge Mansions, London, N. W. JW described Jay and her husband as: 'always charming and kind friends' (#10682).
The Genealogical Index of the British Isles records the marriage of a Sophia Pickersgill on 23 April 1857 to a Louis Jay of Blandon Hall, Kent, England. This may or may not be a related person.
