Edward J. Humphreys was a figure, landscape and interior painter.
Humphreys was an active exhibitor, showing at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Royal Institute of Painters in Water Colours, Royal Hibernian Society and at the Society of British Artists (which elected JW its President in 1886). He was also a member of the Arts Club (1870-1892), as was JW.
In 1882 both Humphreys and JW signed a petition to The Arts Club committee requesting that, during the sitting of Parliament, Parliamentary and General Telegraphic dispatches should be sent to the Club (#13336).
