Identity:

Count Paul von Hatzfeldt-Wildenburg was the German Ambassador to Britain. He was the son of Count Edmund von Hatzfeldt and the daughter of the Prince of Hatzfeldt-Trachenberg. He married Helen Moulton, the daughter of Charles Moulton of Paris.

Life:

Hatzfeldt-Wildenburg was educated in Berlin and Bonn. He became Secretary of the Legation in Paris and The Hague, Minister in Madrid, Ambassador at Constantinople and Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs in Berlin. From 1855 he was Ambassador at the Court of St James. His address in London was 9 Carlton House Terrace, S.W. His interests were literary and historical.

In 1892 JW was in correspondence with Hatzfeldt-Wildenburg with regard to the Bavarian honours awarded him as a result of his exhibits in the Kϋnstler-Genossenschaft, Munich, 1891. This included a third class medal of the Royal Order of Merit of St Michael (#00261).
