Identity:
Enrique Goldschmidt was the brother of the pianist, conductor, composer, impresario and collector, Otto Goldschmidt, who was the manager of the Spanish violinist Pablo de Sarasate y Navascues and instrumental in persuading him to pose for JW in 1885.
Life:
Otto Goldschmidt owned a number of works by JW, including Nocturne (YMSM 153), Grey and Silver: Mist - Life Boat (YMSM 287), Grey and Green: A River (YMSM 295) and Note in pink and purple (M.935). In 1891 Enrique Goldschmidt was in correspondence with JW concerning the exhibition of Nocturne (YMSM 153) at the Berlin International Exhibition [#01756].
