Ernest R. Fox was a landscape painter.
Fox was elected a member of the New English Art Club in 1888, a group with which JW exhibited in this same year. Fox himself was an active exhibitor, showing at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Oil Painters, Dudley Gallery, Grosvenor Gallery, London Salon, Dowdeswell Gallery and Alpine Club Gallery in London, as well as at the Royal Society of Artists in Birmingham, Glasgow Institute of the Fine Arts, Walker Art Gallery in Liverpool and Manchester City Art Gallery. He also exhibited with the Royal Society of British Artists which elected JW its President in 1886.
Fox was amongst those proposed invitees to a dinner organised by W. C. Symons to congratulate JW on becoming an Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Munich, a dinner which was to be held at the Criterion in Piccadilly on 1 May 1889 (#00631).
