Identity:

Wickham Flower was an English solicitor and collector. His wife was Elizabeth H. Flower.

Life:

JW and Flower were in correspondence in 1884, Flower being interested in a number of JW oils. He offered JW 205 guineas for An Orange Note: Sweet Shop (YMSM 264), Note in Blue and Opal: The Sun Cloud (YMSM 271), Harmony in Brown and Gold: Old Chelsea Church (YMSM 305), but JW said Note in Blue and Opal: The Sun Cloud (YMSM 271) was priced 130 guineas in the Dowdeswell catalogue and suggested £160 for An Orange Note: Sweet Shop (YMSM 264) and Note in Blue and Opal: The Sun Cloud (YMSM 271). Flower agreed and purchased the two. He also bought several lithographs by JW from the Fine Art Society in 1895.
