Identity:
William Jodocus Mattheus Engelberts was a genre painter, watercolourist, and dealer. He was the son of the painter Engelbert-Michael Engelberts.
Life:
Engelberts was a pupil of F. de Brakelaer at Anvers. He was conservator at the Rijksmuseum in Amsterdam from 1850 to 1875. His name appears in a notebook of JW's dating from around 1862-1864, in which he is described as co-director, along with Klinkhamer, of the Musée des Estampes (#12745).
