Octavie Josephine de Macedo-Carvalho, née Marchand, was probably the mistress of the American art dealer and collector George Aloysius Lucas who moved to Paris in 1857.

Octavie Josephine de Macedo-Carvalho lived across the hall in the same apartment building in Paris as G. A. Lucas. She was good friends with JW's mistress Maud Franklin, who would come to stay from time to time in the late 1870s and 1880s (#09199, #09203, #07524). Octavie was among those JW informed when Maud's sister Mrs Hamerton died (#07523).
