Charles Bowen Bigelow was a painter and illustrator.


Bigelow studied at the Chicago Art Institute and at the Académie Julian in Paris. He became the secretary of the American Art Association at 131 Boulevard Montparnasse in Paris. In the 1890s he and his wife were friendly with Whistler and Beatrix (#06601). In 1893 Whistler was in correspondence with Bigelow, as with all secretaries of American art clubs, warning him and members of the club against any involvement with Sheridan Ford (#00156, (#00158). In 1894 Bigelow informed Whistler that he had been unanimously elected a honorary member of the American Art Association (#02689). Whistler accepted (#07613).
